Skinny Bitch In the (Vegan) Kitch
Rory Freedman, co-author of the bestselling series of Skinny Bitch books, recently began speaking out about why she, and her books’ heroine, are vegan vigilantes.
As the wit and blunt honesty of Freedman’s diet books take center stage, the vegan lifestyle acts as a cunning undercurrent moving the reader further. The books are not marketed as vegan guides, but they wouldn’t make sense without the environmental and health awareness of the vegan culture.
Freedman and her co-author, Kim Barnouin, did not want to write a book for vegans; that audience already knew of the atrocities against farm animals. Instead she wrote her novel with pieces of information about slaughterhouses and factory farms weaved within it. As an animal rights activist Rory Freedman is working hard to convert as many as she can to Veganism.
