Why I Participate
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. A person I never knew before. A woman I never personally met. A lady who was unknown to me a few years ago. Yet, just after seeing her photograph, reading her biography in a history book, and watching an interview of her on the web, she has made a big impact on my life. She has proved that none of us will live a dignified human life if we live in fear. She has shown us immense courage, an incorruptible dignity, and an indomitable spirit. This humble, exemplary, extraordinary, and great woman has inspired myself to struggle for the dignity of a whole people and nation I never knew before. In 1986, my fellow countrymen, the Filipino People, showed the world what real Democracy meant, through a peaceful revolution that toppled twenty years' of brutal dictatorship. This revolution was the one that inspired the chain of civilian-led revolts across the world, including the 1988 student-led Uprising in Burma. Although I wasn't born at that time, and never got the chance to feel the true spirit of People Power, still, I told myself that I had to play my part. And after knowing what such important place my country had in the world of democracy, and the need of the Burmese People and their beloved homeland to finish their long road to freedom, I felt that I had to join, and continue, the fight against tyranny and injustice in this world. The People of Burma have been enduring the ruthlessness of a military dictatorship for nearly 50 years. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. We must end this suffering right now. I felt pity for them and their heroic leader, because so many in this world do not even know that there is such thing as a struggle for Democracy in Burma, and what they are suffering, fighting, and dying for: JUSTICE, DEMOCRACY, RIGHTS, THEIR FREEDOM. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. We must spread the word, fight for the sake of a people's fate, and end the rule of ignorance, cruelty, injustice, and most of all, inhumanity, in a country where beauty is clearly seen, but where fear and brutality reigns supreme.

hello, thanks for the add! i dig the quote on your CC profile. she obviously is referring to burma, but you could even apply her statement to the respective nations we live in...and, going further, attribute it to our own personal circles, communities, our own minds.
