General

What is Causecast? We believe that doing good should not only be easy, but also fun.You can participate by sharing content, donating to causes you are passionate about, and contributing to articles and posts. Find events and volunteer opportunities in your area while spreading the word through our widget network. You'll even be rewarded with Kudos!

Who's on Causecast? Causecast brings together nonprofits, community leaders, activists, celebrities, brands, and most importantly YOU, with the goal of making a positive impact on the world.

What can I do on Causecast? On Causecast, you can make an impact by getting involved in any way you choose.

How do I signup? Head over to our Join Now page, type in your email and choose a username and password. Then, login to your email account. There should be an email from Causecast in your inbox. Click on the link to confirm your email address, and you're all set to go!

Does it cost anything to join? Nope. Causecast is completely free to join!

How do I create a profile? After you've signed up, you'll be able to fill in some personal information and upload a photo of yourself. At any time you can change your info or picture by clicking to the "edit profile" button on your dashboard.

I forgot my password! No worries, we've got you covered. Go here and type in your email address. We'll email you a special code so you can reset your password. Just follow the link on your email, make sure the special code is filled in the box, and enter a new password. Welcome back!

What are "Kudos" and how do I earn them? A Kudo is a unit of gratitude. A thank you. It means, “Hey, you are making a difference!” You earn Kudos for being active on Causecast, online and off. Some ways to earn Kudos include but are not limited to inviting friends to join Causecast, uploading compelling videos and pictures, and actively posting and blogging on the site. Kudos can be exchanged in the Kudos Marketplace for cool stuff (free music, concert tickets, carbon offsets, and more!) or can be donated to your favorite cause! The Kudos marketplace is currently under construction, stay tuned for updates!

What does it mean to "support" an Organization or Leader? By "supporting" an organization or leader, you are essentially saying "Hey, I like what you're doing! Keep doing it!" Then, your profile's personalized news box will be fed information about about upcoming events and news involving the organizations and leaders you choose to support.

How can I get my friends to join Causecast? Spread the word! You can go to our Invite a Friend page and import your address book, create a personalized message, and even create a video message inviting your friends to join.

What's "My Dashboard"? Your dashboard is your personal home page. This is where you can edit your profile information, check out your stats (like how much money you've donated, how many friends you have, how many nonprofits you support),  and view your personalized cause-news feed.

What is a Widget? The Causecast widget is a way to publish information about your Causecast activity across the web. You can display it proudly on other social networks, your blog, or any other site you use. It's your online real estate for all-things-cause. Paste the Causecast News Widget code into any of your other personal pages online and you will instantly get daily news and videos based on the causes and leaders you support. You can grab a widget on our News Widget page.

How do I share content I find on Causecast? Share videos and articles by clicking the "share" link when viewing content.

How do I upload media content? We encourage you to upload and share your compelling pictures and videos. On your dashboard, there's an Upload Media button that will take you to our media upload page. You can also find an "Upload Media" link embedded in the top-center of every media player. Take a look at our User Generated Content Agreement.

How do I browse leaders and organizations? Click the Organizations or Leaders tab on the main navigation bar. Click the links beneath the video player to order by the most active, most recently added, or alphabetically. That's just one way. You can also explore the "cause channels". We've made it easy to connect with organizations and leaders so have fun with it! You can also always search in the search bar too.

How do I search for a specific friend, leader, or organization? On the top right corner of any page, you'll find an easy to use Search Box where you can type in the name of a friend, leader or organization.

How can I add friends? Simply go to someone's profile page, and click the "Add to friends" button under their profile picture.

Donations

Is my donation tax deductible? Yes, your donation is 100% tax deductible. All the organizations on Causecast are registered 501(c)(3) non profits.

How do I donate to an organization? One easy step. To donate to an organization on Causecast, click the 'donate now' button on an organization's profile or go to our Donations page.

Do I receive a receipt? Yes, we send you an email confirming your donation. That confirmation serves as your tax deductibility receipt.

Do I have to sign up to make a donation? No, anyone can donate. But only users can earn kudos, track donations, and get end of year donation reports.

What percentage of my donation goes to the nonprofits? Causecast takes NO FEE out of your donations to nonprofits. After credit card transaction fees are deducted, the nonprofit receives ALL of your donation. Donating on Causecast is the equivalent of donating directly to the nonprofit, BUT when you donate on Causecast you can earn Kudos and earn cool rewards.

How are donations processed? Your donation first goes into the Causecast Foundation, where we process and account for all donations. Checks are issued monthly to the nonprofits.

How do I know my transaction is safe? Your online donation will be processed through a 256-bit encrypted secure connection, ensuring that your information and donation is completely safe and secure!

Do you store my financial information anywhere? After executing your donation transaction we do not store your credit card information.

Can I make a donation on behalf of someone else? You sure can. Scroll to the bottom of the Donations page to the 'Additonal Donation Options' section. There you can specify on whose behalf the donation should be made. That person will then receive an email letting them know about the donation.

Can I make an anonymous donation? Can who make an anonymous donation? You can make this happen by specifying 'yes' for the 'Would you like to make this donation anonymous?' option in the 'Additonal Donation Options' section of the Donations page.

My company will match my donations, how can I take advantage of this? When making your donation check the 'My company will match my donation' box. You can then take your donation receipt to work to take advantage of the corporate matching.

What can Causecast provide my organization? Causecast broadcasts your voice, your message, and your cause as part of the movement to make the world a better place.

Causecast empowers nonprofit organizations to expand their audience, raise more money, and increase their support base, by providing an interactive community with tools, celebrity and leader endorsements, and brand sponsorships.

At no cost to your organization, Causecast provides you with a built in audience eager to learn about your cause, hear the voice of your leaders, and take action. You will have an interactive profile page in the Causecast network where all of your photos, videos and events can be deployed online to our actively engaged user community. We not only aggregate information and news about your organization, but can host your archived media as well.

Causecast begins online but moves offline through volunteer opportunities, concerts, parties, press and more. Supporters of your organization are rewarded through association with the leaders and brands they admire. All leaders and brands involved with Causecast are hand selected to ensure the quality of our service and the integrity of your organization.

How are organizations selected for Causecast? Causecast provides a space for all types of nonprofits to broadcast their message, from large international organizations, to smaller boutique organizations, and everything in between.  To be a part of Causecast, an organization has to be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in good standing as identified through Guidestar's Charity Check.

What defines a leader? A Causecast leader is someone who is truly passionate about and active in the sphere of causes and charity.
